Apartment Construction Heats Up in Previously Less Active Markets

Milwaukee, Orlando Detroit Seeing Highest Growth Rates

Apartment construction has been booming for years in metros such as Denver, Atlanta, New York, Dallas, Houston and DC. Bur recently, the pace of development has been increasing in previously less-active metros.

For example, Milwaukee will have the highest increase in scheduled completions over the next year -- 157%, according to RealPage apartment market research. Orlando, Detroit and Fort Worth also are expecting deliveries to more than double the past year's output.

One reason: Occupancy rates are quite high in these markets.
