Multifamily Permit Volumes Decline in September
New York Authorizes Most Units Nationwide

Multifamily permits were issued for 31,726 units nationwide in September, with 360,000 units authorized for the 12 months ending in September, according to U.S. Census statistics for residential construction.
In September, New York issued 1,792 multifamily permits, the most in September. Nashville has the largest increase in multifamily permits year over year, with its 1,189 units authorized in September a whopping 310% more than in September 2016 -- appropriate, since Nashville also was the third-quarter leader in annual inventory growth.
