Bay Area Construction Increases in East Bay, Recedes in San Francisco, San Jose

Eastward Shift Not Surprising

 Bay Area apartment construction has shifted eastward recently, as Oakland apartment supply is increasing while San Jose and San Francisco construction is on a downward trend.

A RealPage report shows that Oakland apartment supply has totaled 6,200-6,800 on an annual basis for the past four quarters, while San Jose and San Francisco construction have fallen from 11,200 and 12,500 units, respectively, in 2015 to below 7,000 and 9,000 units this year.
